About Us
WHO WE ARE
Teamsters Local 14 is one of three Las Vegas area Teamsters Unions. Local 14 represents approximately 3,300 members and affiliates working predominantly in Southern Nevada. Our membership is comprised from both private and public sector arenas and is as diverse as the community in which we live.
While many of our “private sector” members work as drivers and warehouseman and like to say “if you can eat it, drink it or wear it – we warehouse or deliver it”, we also represent nurses and office workers. Our diverse membership also includes “public sector” employees working in an even wider variety of professions, from city field crews like streets and parks maintenance workers to professional engineers and librarians. Although Nevada does not allow “commissioned” law enforcement personnel to belong to a diversified union many law enforcement organizations have chosen to affiliate themselves with Local 14 for our knowledge and expertise.
Local 14 together with Local 631 and Local 995 in Las Vegas are part of Teamsters Joint Council 42 representing over 200,000 Teamsters on the west coast and pacific region.
A BRIEF HISTORY OF LOCAL 14
Teamsters Local 14 was chartered with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters in December of 1955.
Long respected for representing the working men and women in Nevada, Local 14 is officially known as “General Sales Drivers, Delivery Drivers and Helpers, Teamsters Local 14."
Local 14 was originally located at 301 Wall Street near the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Main Street. In 1997, Local 14 purchased its first building and moved 4236 E. Charleston Boulevard. Although this location was small it served the Local’s needs until we out grew the space and purchased our much larger and current home at 1250 S. Burnham Avenue.
From scant few members in the mid 1950’s to a still growing membership of over 3,300 today Local 14 continues to take the lead in worker’s rights and benefits for Nevada.
WHAT WE DO
Teamsters Local 14 has negotiated expanded benefits and wages for its members for more than 50 years. Local 14 represents its members in the areas of contract administration, contract service and organizing.
Our Business Agents service our membership by representing the members in grievance hearings, arbitrations, and contract negotiations with the employer.
Our organizing department assists non-union workers through organizing campaigns under the National Labor Relations Act (for private sector employees) or Nevada Revised Statues 288 (for public sector employees) and has successfully increased our union's membership and strength.
